Relevant referencing for students
We know students can’t be referenced the same way as other tenants, which is why we’ve adjusted our eligibility criteria to consider guarantors instead for student tenancies.

Extended timeframes for checkouts
We’ve extended the amount of time that student partners have to register any charges at the end of tenancy. With lots of tenants moving in and out at the same time, we know it’s a hectic time for partners, which is why we give them longer to submit their charges.
Extra cover for higher rents
Some student tenancies come with higher rents – which is why we can extend our cover limit to £10k.

Frequently asked questions.
What's your student referencing criteria?
Where tenants named on the tenancy agreement are all students, our standard referencing criteria does not apply. Instead, you may conduct or obtain a reference check on their Guarantor that evaluated the Guarantor’s:
- Identity: To verify their genuine identity; and either
- Credit history: To demonstrate they do not have adverse credit such as an unsatisfied CCJ, IVA or bankruptcy; or
- Income and affordability: To show their annual income is not less than 30x the monthly rent.
To benefit from this exception, you will need to provide evidence that all tenants named on the tenancy are students. Such evidence can include.:
- Communication from the relevant council that they have exempted the property from council tax
- A council tax bill stating that the tenancy is exempt
- A certificate of student status from each tenant
- A student ID card from each tenant.
Important Note: Reposit reserves the right to request evidence that a reference check has been carried out, and that the Tenant and/or the Guarantor has met the criteria. Failure to comply with the above obligations will result in the Reposit cover being void.
How is Reposit different from other deposit alternatives?
At 8 weeks’ rent, Reposit offers the most cover for landlords whilst being great value for tenants. This helps you to attract landlords and let properties faster.
We are FCA regulated and partnered with a leading insurance underwriter, giving you peace of mind that you will be working with a trusted partner.
There are plenty more reasons why Reposit is the best option on the market. If you are interested to learn more, book a demo. We’ll be happy to chat.
How long do student partners have to raise charges?
The usual submission deadline for raising charges is 24 days from the Reposit end date or checkout date (whichever comes first) – however, for student tenancies we’ve extended this to 30 days.
